This is a small blog post where I have expressed my thoughts on a verse from 'Jyotisharnava Navanitam' which is a dialogue between Shiva and Devi Parvati. After explaining the Balarishta and Arishta Bhanga, Shiva elaborates the results of the 12 Bhavas. Shiva is now narrating the effects of 9th Bhava. Ishwara chooses his words very intelligently and conveys multiple rules in every verse. One such Shloka is being explained here.

Shloka:
भाग्याधिपे नीचसंस्थे शतृग्रहनिरीक्षिते ।
क्रूरांशे क्रूरराशौ वा जातो निर्धन एव सः ॥
Source: JN Ch2 Verse 310
Anvaya: भाग्याधिपे नीचसंस्थे शतृग्रहनिरीक्षिते क्रूरांशे क्रूरराशौ वा (सति) सः जातः निर्धन एव (भवति)।
Translation: If the 9th Lord is in debilitation, aspected by inimical Grahas, in a malefic Navamsa or a malefic sign, the native will be penniless.
English Commentary & Interpretations: The conditions given by Siva are as follows-
1. Graha should be in debilitation.
2. Graha should be aspected by inimical Grahas.
3. Graha should be in malefic Navamsa or Shashtiamsa.
4. Graha should be in malefic sign.
If the aforementioned conditions are met for any Bhava, its significations will be nullified. A similar evaluation should be conducted for the 2nd, 5th, and 11th Bhavas, which also play a crucial role in assessing the wealth, prosperity and income.
In a comparable situation, the Lagna Lord would indicate that the native's paternal grandfather may experience poverty, and the native could face health challenges and possess questionable character traits.
If the 2nd Lord is found in the previously mentioned condition, the native is likely to experience a loss of wealth and exhibit poor speech.
Similarly, if the 3rd Lord is in such a condition, it may lead to misfortune for the spouse, and the native's siblings could also encounter difficulties in their lives.
Should the 4th Lord be positioned in a similar manner, it may suggest that the native will lack happiness and comfort.
Weakness in the 5th and 9th Lords indicates that the native may be deprived of fortune and prosperity, as these Trikona are considered as Lakshmi Sthana.
If the 10th Lord is placed under the same conditions, it may lead the native to engage in undesirable actions.
Should the 11th Lord be similarly affected, the native's income may suffer, and his uncles could face challenges in their lives.
The wise should assess these effects based on the established principles of Jyotisa.
