As an astrologer, the most common question I encounter is "What is the purpose of my birth?" Actually, this is a funny question because the saints and sages have already answered this question long back. The Vṛścika Lagna has long been regarded as one of the most difficult ascendants to interpret in Jyotiṣa. Many esteemed practitioners have acknowledged the complexity associated with understanding its deeper workings. Such is its intricacy that the renowned astrologer V. D. Bhat even authored a separate and dedicated book focusing exclusively on this Lagna. During the course of my own astrological practice, I too have experienced this difficulty. In fact, I often say half in jest that when the Divine wishes to test an astrologer, a native with Vṛścika Lagna appears before him. Drawing from my study and research of the classical texts of Jyotiṣa, I have written this article on Vṛścika Lagna for the intellectual delight and thoughtful engagement of fellow students and scholars of astrology.
