Saptarṣi Nāḍī: Some Case Studies

Saptarṣi Nāḍī was published by the GOML, and a book containing various horoscopes was released by Śri J. N. Bhasin. Nevertheless, this Nāḍī text is extensive and encompasses numerous concealed principles. Here, we will discuss some of the horoscopes that Śri Bhasin did not include in his publication.

CHART 1

This is a conversation between Devī Pārvati and the Saptarṣi-s. On Devī's query, Vaśiṣṭha Rṣi provides the predictions about the native whose horoscope is given below. The Nāḍī documents the predictions while the astrological explanations detailed below are my personal interpretations based on the standard treatises of Jyotiṣa such as Bṛhat Jātaka, Sarvārtha Cintāmani, Jyotiṣārṇava Navanītam, Jātaka Pārijāta, etc.

Position Of Planets At The Time Of Birth: Sūrya and Candra are in Makara. Kuja and Ketu in Vṛścika. Budha is placed in Dhanu. Bṛhaspati and Śukra are in Kumbha. Śani is in Kanyā while Rāhu is in Vṛṣabha.

Navāṃśa occupied by planets beginning with Sūrya and ending with Ketu are Vṛṣabha, Makara, Kanyā, Vṛścika, Mithuna, Mīna, Mīna, Makara and Karka.

Nāḍī: The native's father bears a name related to Lord Murugan/Skanda (கந்தன்).

Explanation: The 9th Bhāva represents the father which is occupied by Rāhu and aspected by Kuja along with Ketu. Kuja is in his own sign. Thus, the father's name will be similar to the deity signified by Kuja which is Śri Skanda.

Nāḍī: He is learned and wise.

Explanation: The 2nd and 4th Bhāva are Vidyā Sthāna. From the 9th Bhāva, 10th and 12th Bhāva of Janma Lagna are 2nd and 4th for the father. The 2nd from 9th is aspected by its Lord Budha and the 4th from 9th is aspected by Bṛhaspati and Śukra. Thus, the native's father is said to be learned and wise.

Nāḍī: He will never say "No" or "I don't have" to others. He will be generous in giving to others.

Explanation: The 9th Lord Śani is in the Rāśi of Budha. The 11th Lord from 9th is Bṛhaspati who occupies the 10th from 9th along with Śukra. The native's father will not be selfish and will perform charitable deeds.

Nāḍī: He will wander about on earth like a servant/attendant.

Explanation: The 6th Lord and the 8th Lord from the 9th are Śukra and Bṛhaspati respectively. Both are conjoined in the 10th Bhāva in the sign of Kumbha which is ruled by Śani. The 10th Lord for 9th is Śani placed in the Navāṃśa of Bṛhaspati. Thus, the native's father will work for someone holding an authoritative position in the society.

Nāḍī: He will live well as a capable person.

Explanation: The 10th from 9th is the 6th Bhāva occupied by Bṛhaspati and Śukra. Thus, the native's father will perform good deeds and continue to live as a capable person.

Nāḍī: The native's father will not have deceitful mind.

Explanation: The 4th Bhāva signifies Manas or mind. The 4th from 9th is the 12th Bhāva which shall denote the mind of the native's father. The 4th from 9th is aspected by Bṛhaspati and Śukra while its Lord is associated with Candra. Thus, the 4th Bhāva is influenced by Saumya Graha (natural benefic planets) because of which the native's father has a pure heart.

Notes: The Nāḍī states that the father of the native, in his previous birth, engaged in fraudulent activities against a friend concerning financial matters. Additionally, a bird had constructed a nest within his residence, which was destroyed by the native's father. As a result, both the curses from the friend and the bird were directed at the native's father. Consequently, in the present life, the native's father experiences poverty and lacks a house of his own. Observe that the 2nd Lord from 9th is hemmed between malefics and is bereft of any benefic influence while its dispositor who also happens to be the 11th Lord is placed in detrimental condition from its own Bhava.

It is evident that if the father is experiencing a specific circumstance, the child is likely to encounter a similar situation. The Nāḍī text further indicates that the native will also endure poverty during his childhood. It is quite apparent that he too will not possess his own dwelling till he becomes financially independent.

This illustrates the concept of generational curses. In real-life scenarios, various types of doṣa and śrāpa can be found in an individual's horoscope, which may lead to significant turmoil in life. Some may perceive this as fear-mongering; however, that is not the case. To alleviate these doṣa and śrāpa, appropriate remedial actions must be undertaken, and all necessary procedures should be meticulously followed. Even Śiva has conveyed this to Devī Pārvatī in a very rare text.

Nāḍī: His brothers and sisters will perish/die.

Explanation: The horoscope has a Sahodara Doṣa. The 3rd Bhava is occupied by Ketu along with Kuja who is the 3rd Lord as well as the significator of siblings. Sani and Rahu also cast their aspect on the 3rd Bhava and Kuja.

CHART 2

Details: Mesa Lagna. Rahu in Mesa; Sani & Candra in Mithuna; Ketu in Tula; Surya in Vrscika; Kuja & Budha in Dhanu; Guru in Mina.

The Lagna and Candra Lagna indicate the conditions at the time of birth. The influence on the Lagna reveals the surroundings of the place of birth. Both Surya (Pratyaksh Narayan) and Budha represent Sri Vishnu. Here, Lagna is in Mesha while its Lord Kuja is with Budha in the 9th Bhava (temples) in Dhanu (Sattvaguna Rashi). Kuja is the dispositor of Surya (temples) and connects with Candra Rasi Lord Budha. Both Kuja and Budha aspect Chandra Lagna in Mithuna with 7th aspect. Thus, the Lagna and Candra Lagna are influenced by symbols of Sri Vishnu. According to Nadi, native is born near a Vishnu temple.

CHART 3

This is a conversation between Devī Pārvati and the Saptarṣi-s. On Devī's query, Atri Rṣi provides the predictions for the native with the following chart.

Details: Mithuna Lagna. Sani in Kanya, Kuja in Tula, Surya and Ketu in Vrscika, Budha and Sukra in Dhanu, Guru in Kumbha, Candra and Rahu in Vrsabha.

Nāḍī: The native does not have any bad habits.

Explanation: The character is determined from the Lagna Bhava. Here, three natural benefics — Guru, Budha and Sukra cast their aspect on the Lagna. Budha as the sign lord aspecting its sign has strengthened the Lagna Bhava.

Nāḍī: He will be an agriculturist.

Explanation: The 10th Bhava is aspected by Sani while the 10th Lord is placed in Sani’s sign. No other planet has an influence on the Karma Sthana and hence, the profession will be denoted by Sani viz. farming.

Notes: The native of this chart in his previous birth was born in a Brahmin family. However, in the present birth, he is born in the Vaishya community. The sages state that this has happened because he ate the cooked food without offering it to the God.

Nāḍī: The native’s mother will be without any brothers and sisters.

Explanation: From the 4th Bhava of mother, the 3rd Bhava happens to be the 6th Bhava which is heavily afflicted by the presence of Surya and Ketu. The 3rd Lord from 4th Bhava is in 12th from itself hemmed between malefics. Even the 11th Lord Candra gets afflicted.

Notes: The Nāḍī indicates that the native's mother ruined the nest of a bird that was located in her home during a previous life. In the process, the young birds within the nest perished as well. Upon returning, the mother bird, who had been away, discovered that none of her offspring had survived. Consequently, the bird placed a curse on the native's mother, declaring that she would not have any siblings or children. This curse became evident in the subsequent birth.

Nāḍī: The native will be dear to his wife.

Explanation: The Kalatra Sthana is influenced by Budha and Sukra who are Rajasika planets. The quality of Rajasa is passion and affection. Thus, the native will be attached to his wife and be dear to her.

Nāḍī: He will have bilious nature of body.

Explanation: The Candra Lagna has an influence of Kuja, Surya and Ketu. Thus, the native will have a bilious temperament. He will also be short-tempered.

CHART 4

Details: Mesa Lagna. Guru in Mesa; Candra in Mithuna; Surya and Kuja in Karka; Budha, Sukra and Rahu in Simha; Sani in Makara.

Nāḍī: The native will not have any any children.

Explanation: The considerations to be made are 5th Bhava, 5th Lord, Brhaspati and the 9th Bhava. Here, the 5th Bhava is occupied by 3rd and 6th Lord Budha who is a malefic for Mesa Lagna and Sukra (2nd and 7th Lord). Rahu is also present in the 5th Bhava. There is an aspect from Brhaspati. Now, the 5th Lord is with Kuja (1st and 8th Lord) aspected by Sani (10th and 11th Lord). The 9th Bhava and Brhaspati are aspected by Rahu who carries an influence of Budha. Thus, all the factors of progeny are afflicted by neuter planets who happen to be malefics. Thus, there is no Putra Yoga present in the above horoscope.

Bṛhat Yogārṇava: Some Explanations On Graha Yogas

These are some excerpts from upcoming (unplanned) workshop on interpreting the Graha Yogas (planetary combinations). Image Source: Pinterest Combination 1: Mukhasya Vigandhatā (Foul Odour From Mouth) Jātakatattva 3.1.290. When Candra and Śukra occupy Meṣa and Budha occupies Lagna or 6th house, the person emits a foul odour from his mouth. A foul odour emanating from the mouth or body is traditionally associated with aggravation of Pitta Doṣa. In this combination, both Candra and Śukra are placed in Meṣa Rāśi, a sign ruled by Kuja, who is fiery and strongly connected with Pitta. When bodily heat increases abnormally, digestion becomes irregular, bile is aggravated, and unpleasant smell can emerge through the mouth, sweat, or skin. Thus, the sign itself provides the fiery foundation for the result. Candra governs rasa, bodily fluids, nourishment, and emotional softness. Śukra governs reproductive fluids, vitality, fragrance, and bodily charm. When these naturally gentle planets are place...

Jyotiṣārṇava: The Jyotisha Of Professions

In today's world, there exists a vast array of opportunities for education, careers, and various professions. Unlike in ancient times, it is no longer a given that the son of a king will inherit the throne. As opportunities expand, many individuals are choosing to pursue their careers abroad. Accurately interpreting this information from a horoscope can be a complex endeavor. Nevertheless, by employing a few established and effective techniques, this task becomes significantly more manageable. In this article, I present a method that has been in use for over 4,000 years, which I refer to as 'Mihira's Master Method,' along with several other straightforward principles. It is important to note that numerous example horoscopes are included in this discussion. I trust that the process of predicting professions will no more cause distress for the students of Jyotisha.  I reviewed numerous articles and books which are written on professions. In one particular book, the method...

Shukra In The 12th Bhava

In Jyotiṣa, the Graha Bhāva Phala is a significant subject that has been explored by the Rishis and Acharyas. It holds considerable importance in the realm of Bhava Analysis. There exist several classical texts, some of which remain unknown to the astrological community and are held by the scribe, that have thoroughly addressed the Graha Bhāva Phala. The scribe has endeavored to compile all findings related to Shukra's placement in the 12th Bhava, which is regarded as particularly unique and intriguing in its own right. General Dictum Image: Shukra.  Source: Pinterest. (Rf. Experiences In Jyotiṣa: Some Case Studies

Case 1: Kāma, Manas, Jyotiṣa & 7th House An astrological chart reveals many aspects of a person’s life and very little remains hidden from a skilled astrologer. One among these is the sexual tendencies of the native. This should not be treated as a taboo subject, as the classical texts discuss such matters quite openly. It is the moral responsibility of an astrologer to guide his clients if they are moving on the wrong path. Image Source: Pinterest In the given chart, the 7th Lord Śani is debilitated and retrograde, and it casts its aspect on the 7th house itself. The 7th house, which is also the debilitation sign of Bṛhaspati, receives the aspect of Bṛhaspati who owns the 6th and the 9th houses. Bṛhaspati is associated with Budha, the 3rd Lord, and Sūrya, the 2nd Lord. Thus, the 7th house is under malefic influence. 7th house from Candra is in Krura Kartari as the 6th house is aspected by Śani and 8th is occupied by Kuja. The 7th Lord from Candra happens to be Kuja who is under ...

Jyotiṣārṇava: Combinations Related To 10th House

This article has been originally written in Hindi. English version has been attached along with it after the completion of the article.

Government Jobs: Planetary Indications

One of the most common questions that the Indian community asks an astrologer is whether they will obtain a government job. For many people, it is seen as a symbol of stability, prestige, and social status. In many cases, astrologers make the mistake of predicting a government job merely because Sūrya is placed in the 10th house or happens to be exalted. Such a conclusion is often too simplistic. The 10th house certainly has relevance, but it is not the primary factor. Greater attention should be given to the 5th house, which reflects intelligence and the capacity to succeed in competitive examinations. Along with this, the 6th house should ideally be weaker in comparison to the Lagna. It is also important to examine whether the individual possesses sound morals and ethical conduct. Finally, the Daśā and the Gocara must provide adequate support at the right time for success in the examination and clearing the interviews.
